5th Annual Golf Fundraising Event

On Friday, May 31, 2024, the Dakota James Foundation will host our 5th Annual Golfing Fundraiser at the Links of Challedon in Mt. Airy, Maryland. The Dakota James Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to making a difference by working to keep our communities safe. With your support, we will: continue to work with community leaders and public officials to make safety a priority, increase the number of surveillance cameras in under-served areas, bring safety awareness information to our communities, and continue to support families who are faced with the nightmare of having a loved one go missing.

As a result of your past support, in 2023, the Dakota James Foundation donated $25,000 to the Downtown Frederick Partnership, which provided nearly 150 surveillance cameras to be strategically placed throughout downtown Frederick businesses and to register these cameras with the Frederick Police Department.

This year we are once more joining with the Downtown Frederick Partnership to provide funding for a high-tech camera on the streets of the City of Frederick. The Dakota James Foundation will fully fund the addition of a second high-tech camera. The City of Frederick is looking to install a third high-tech camera, and, with your support, we can make that a reality.  Each camera costs nearly $10,000 so we need your support to keep our communities safe.

This foundation was established in tribute to Dakota James who went missing on January 25, 2017, and was found in the Ohio River 40 days later. We had no one advocating on our behalf and our family was left to navigate a complex and contradictory system on our own. The answer to this tragic event was the formation of the Dakota James Foundation to support public safety and to help others whose loved ones have gone missing.
